We are a private practice dedicated to providing a friendly service. We will always seek to provide the highest standards of client care.
We believe that the best way to ensure that our advice remains accurate, efficient and easy-to-absorb for our busy clients, is to ensure that we engage only the most competent, experienced and specialist staff, who are deeply committed to their clients and to their work and to maintaining the highest professional and ethical standards.
Our fees are very competitive and transparent.
We never forget that we succeed only with the loyalty and goodwill of our clients.
What's in a name?
The name of our firm, The Wimbledon Effect, refers to a phrase coined by Japanese businessmen, who compare the success of the UK's financial services with the Wimbledon Tennis Championships. In the modern day game Britain has unfortunately produced few Wimbledon champions whilst foreign players appear to come and win year after year thereby in turn increasing the renown of Wimbledon around the world. The point of the analogy is that foreign organisations and individuals can be highly successful in the United Kingdom whilst they in turn contribute to the economy here.We aim to provide competent legal advice to organisations and individuals, who wish to make use of or develop specialist skills and knowledge that have been acquired abroad in order to be successful here and abroad.
Why engage a solicitor?
Due to successive governments legislating in this area of the law in response to economic conditions as well as in order to pacify public opinion, immigration law has become one of the most complex areas of legal practice. We are frequently approached by individuals and employers who have attempted to make applications by themselves. Moreover, the immigration authorities appear to encourage this by suggesting that the procedures are 'straightforward'.
Unfortunately, however, the skilled and highly skilled categories where there is a high incidence of "DIY applications" being made, have some of the highest refusal rates nationally. Often by the time some of our clients turn to us for help their positions have been seriously compromised. This is quite frequently due to innocent misunderstandings of the law and procedures or avoidable oversights. This makes our job somewhat harder and unnecessarily costly for our clients.
We would encourage all applicants to seek professional advice from the outset. There are many 'hidden' pitfalls in the system and the application forms, which can easily be avoided with the correct advice.
